HashBrowns…September 10-14 2012 Run Like the Wind!

When was the last time you ran full-tilt down a hill? If you can’t remember, then it’s been too long!

I don’t know about you, but this week has been busy, busy, busy. Everything seems to be happening all at once. There’s hot lunch forms, back to school BBQ’s, school library books to find and return, work meetings, new play-dates to organize, dance classes to register for, veggies and fruit to preserve, new smalls adjusting to dayhome life…the list goes on. This is typical for September, I know. But what I forget sometimes, is to take time for myself to just do something fun!

When my children and the children in my home are anxious or over-whelmed, I send them outside to run it off! The minute their little feet break into a run, you can see the relief on their face. It’s as if all the troubles in the world are left in a pile behind them and they are suddenly free of the burden.

As I watched my 2 run this last weekend, it struck me how I have forgotten how grand it feels to let go of it all and just feel the wind in my face.

So I made a little promise to myself, that the next time my children were running down hills,  I will get out from behind the camera and run with them. I get butterflies just thinking about it! Remember the feeling of almost losing your footing as you raced down a hill? I’m nervous and excited to feel that again!

All you mamas and papas out there who need respite from your burdens…maybe try runnin’! (Just don’t break any ankles, ok?)

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I used to love running down this hilly area that had lots of trees. As I grew taller, I remember becoming more and more cautious and being afraid of slipping on the twigs underfoot. Today, I have an irrational fear of losing my footing in all sorts of places. I think I need to devise some downhill running therapy for myself – as you say, there are few things more exhilarating than feeling that wind rush past your face 🙂
