“Children are happy because they don’t have a file in their minds called ‘All the Things That Could Go Wrong.’” ~Marianne Williamson
You’re thinking I am crazy right now, aren’t you? Ya, that looks fun and all, but who’s going to clean it up?? Seriously. They could slip and fall! Paint could get in their mouths! And in their hair! And in their eyes!
Oh, how we grown ups worry. But the wee ones don’t. They soak it all up. They dive on in. And they enjoy without care. The only thing that worries them is having to get out because play time is over.
These two smalls are two years old, and neither of them are afraid of a mess. Which I happen to love, because neither am I…unless it’s on my carpet! I set up two little pools on splash mats on my patio. One was filled with pots of brightly coloured paint. The other one was filled with water and sponges. Oh, and if you buy the little pool at the pet store (yes, they are meant for dogs), you will pay a fraction of the cost. These cost me $9.99 each at PetSmart.
So I’ve covered my patio and I have water close by…
What else are you worried about? Oh ya, the paint getting in their eyes. Well, this is mostly tear-free because I make it with baby shampoo…
Looks like SO much fun!! Love the pic of the toes! We have one almost just like that!
What a ton of colorful toddler fun with your homemade paint. But, the best part is the easy cleanup!
I want a pool party just like that…I’m not sure that PETCO has a pool big enough, though! LOL 🙂
Precious!
It´s wonderful what you do, what they do, and the pictures! it´s not easy to get those shots! you´re great! Thanks for sharing.
FUN! My daughter would LOVE this. Can’t wait… Thank you for the inspiration!
awww..I wish I can do that 😀 looks fun!
Great idea to have a washing pool right next door. And good tip about buying the pool from the pet store.
Looks like they had a great time. You were so organised! I start to do these things and then realise I don’t have a get out plan and end up with paint everywhere!
arlee…so so so very cute, and a wonderful idea…Im going to do this with my little people…as soon as I et my sensory table up and running…;-)… Xx I shared it on five pumpkins Facebook page…so lots of Aussies will see it too….
Thank you so much, Kelly!!!! It was so much fun to watch them. The girls would have stayed in there all evening if their mamas weren’t on their way to pick them up!
Such fun and perfect for toddlers. Love your photos.
I love this idea. My 2 year old is often really messy but then sometimes I give her the chance to finger paint or something and she’s totally not into it. But I love this idea and want to give it a try. Especially love the “wash tub” to clean off in too!
That looks like so much fun!
This looks amazing!! I can’t wait to try it!!
I love this! Even though it is messy, it looks like they are having a blast. I am featuring it on my Kid’s Co-op roundup tomorrow on my blog. 🙂
Thank you so much!!! It was such great fun! 🙂
Really love these pictures. Your blog is inspirational.
This looks like so much fun! And so smart to have the rinse off pool right next to the paint pool. I featured this on my Kid’s Co-op Post this week. Thanks for linking up!
Thank you so much, Amy!!!!
