“The next morning when I woke up, I was PINK! My face was pink, my hands were pink, and my belly was the color of a sunset.” ~Pinkalicious, by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann
First of all, I have to begin with telling you that this post was mostly created by my 12-year-old daughter, Bean. She has been reading my blog lately and was inspired to contribute. I told her that Pinkalicious was next up on the roster, as we have had 2 little girls during the day who LOVE this story. I gave Bean the book and asked her to create a sensory activity for the 2 toddlers in our group. She made lists, she gathered from our supplies, and I took her to the dollar store for the rest. This is what she created…The little girls were so excited to get their chubby hands into this activity. They played and played and played. Here…have a look!
The snap beads made for great fine-motor practice, as did pouring and scooping the barley and rice…
The most popular element of the sensory table, was the mirror, purchased at the dollar store for $1.50. The girls loved making faces at themselves and oh, the giggles that ensued!
The other favourite element was the tiaras. The girls thought they were pretty awesome in those sparkly crowns!
The girls kept saying to me that they wanted to be pink just like Pinkalicious. I had no face paint on hand, but I quickly came up with a solution. I used baby Zincofax cream and mixed it up with a few drops of red food colouring. I applied it only on their chubby cheeks. It did not stain their skin, or mine! They loved it!!
These two munchkins were having so much fun, I decided a trip to the cupcakery was in order. So we packed up and went for some of the “pinkest” cupcakes we could find, fairy wands, pink cheeks, and all!A day just doesn’t get any better than this when you’re a girl of two!!
Today is also Weekly Kid’s Co-op Day!!! Link up at the bottom of the post with your kid-friendly activity, if you’d like! We’d love to see it! Take time to browse through the activities…you may find something your smalls would LOVE!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Arlee, this is really way too cute!!! You and your daughter are amazing!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
Thank you, Kathy!! I’ll have her read your comment! It’s been great having an “assistant” this summer!
Oh.WOW! So much pink! Pink barley rice sequins? LOL that’s what I thought I was looking at, then I saw the commas… did you colour the rice yourself? This is such a fantasy post and that’s my favourite bit of it (apart from the pink cheeks!)
Yes! I colored the rice myself! It’s from our valentines bin…we like to reuse and recycle!! The only thing we had to buy for this party were the peonies, the dolls with pink hair, and the mirror! Bean did a good job of scavenging for pink!
Oh, how beautiful and so much fun!
Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun for all of us!
I am not a pink person. It is not my color. However, the girls looked happy and that is important.
